Rising on the ancient lands of Melikgazi, the Beştepeler Tumulus II is one of the pages in Kayseri's archive of culture and history. Today appearing as a flattened hillock, this mound possesses a far greater significance in terms of its historical depth. Archaeological findings show that the burial practices carried out here stretch back to the Proto-Hittite or Hittite period, and that those buried here were influential figures of the region. This tumulus tells of how deep-rooted human civilization is in this geography where trade routes intersected, and of how enduring its memory is. When you arrive here early in the morning and climb to the top of the mound, you can directly feel the silent testimony of ancient ages in the face of the infinity of the Kayseri plain.
