Editor's Note
Mem and Zin is a classic Kurdish love story, written down in verse around 1692 by the Kurdish writer and poet Ahmad Khani (1651–1707) and regarded as the epic of Kurdish literature. Based on a tale passed down through oral tradition, it carries themes of Sufi discourse and Kurdish identity. The Mem-u Zin Mausoleum in Cizre has become a tourist attraction.
