Silifke Castle rises on bedrock about 185 metres high on the western side of the town of Silifke in Mersin. Surrounded by a moat and fortified with 16 bastions, it covers roughly 29,000 square metres. Originally dating to the Hellenistic or early Roman period, repeated repairs have given it the appearance of a medieval castle today.
