Tekfur Ambarı is a large Byzantine-era cistern at the foot of Silifke Castle in Silifke, Mersin Province. Carved into rock and faced with cut stone, it measures about 46 by 23 metres and 14 metres deep, with eight arched niches along its long walls and five along the short walls, and is reached by a spiral staircase. Its capacity is roughly 12,000 tonnes of water.
