Editor's Note
Oluz Höyük is a multi-layered settlement mound in the Çekerek River valley of Amasya Province, about 25 km southwest of the city of Amasya, on the western edge of the fertile Geldingen plain. Roughly circular and measuring 280 x 260 m, it rises about 15 m above the plain. Inhabited from the Early Bronze Age through the Middle Ages, systematic excavations led by Şevket Dönmez since 2007 have uncovered significant Achaemenid (Persian) and Phrygian remains, including a rare fire temple and a monumental road.
