Uğurlu / Zeytinli is a settlement mound on the western side of Gökçeada island in Çanakkale Province, about 900 m east-northeast of Uğurlu village. Set on the eastern slope of İsa Tepe, the site spreads over roughly 300 x 100 m according to pottery finds. It is so far the oldest known settlement in the eastern Aegean islands and holds a key position for understanding the spread of the Neolithic way of life toward Europe; the earliest occupation is thought to have begun around 6500 BC with migration from Anatolia, developing into a culture independent of Anatolia by about 5000 BC.
