Tilkitepe Höyük, known in older sources as Şamramaltı, is a settlement mound about 7 km southwest of the city of Van. It now lies within the grounds of Van Airport, part of the area being used by the airport. The mound is roughly 55 m in diameter and 6-7 m high.

A mound 55 metres across and 6 to 7 metres high, 7 km south-west of Van city centre. It now falls inside the boundary of Van Airport and part of it is used as airport land. Three cultural layers: Halaf at the bottom, Late Obeyd (Ubaid) above it, Early Bronze Age on top. The Halaf layer matters because it is the northernmost point that culture is known to reach in Turkey. With Mount Süphan nearby, obsidian tools and weapons turn up in quantity. Excavation began in 1899 under the German W. Belck, continued in 1937 with the American Reilly, and closed in 1939 with Cahit Kınay.
