Editor's Note
The so-called Tigris tunnel is a cave about 80 km north of Diyarbakir, in the Lice district, roughly 750 m long, through which the Berkilin Cay flows. Long believed to be the main source of the Tigris, it is in fact a secondary source, the true spring lying near Bingol. In its vicinity are several archaeological monuments, including three Assyrian rock reliefs and five inscriptions.
