Story

Located in the historic center of Amasya, the Sabuncuoğlu Museum of Medical and Surgical History is a treasure house that brings to life the golden age of 14th-century Ottoman medicine. The museum is named in honor of the famous surgeon and scientist Sabuncuoğlu Şerafeddin (1385–1470). The 'Cerrahiyyetü'l-Haniyye' written by Şerafeddin represents the pinnacle of Ottoman science and is regarded as the first comprehensive surgical book to influence European medicine.
