Pydnai (Kydna) is an abandoned Hellenistic-period fortress near the Karadere locality in the Seydikemer district of Muğla, at the western end of Patara beach. Built to guard the road to Xanthos, an important Lycian city, it held a strategic position close to fresh water sources and a sheltered anchorage. Controlled by the Romans, it was mentioned in the 3rd century in the Stadiasmus Maris Magni and in Ptolemy's Geography.
