Hieron Oros was a town of ancient Pontus on the Black Sea coast of Asiatic Turkey. Though now disappeared, its site is thought to lie about 25 km west of Trabzon, on a cape at the northeastern tip of Fener in the Çarşıbaşı district, today topped by a French-built lighthouse dating from 1886. The 19th-century traveller H. F. B. Lynch described it as the promontory of the 'sacred mountain'.
