Editor's Note
Apollonia was an ancient Mysian city set on a hill east of Pergamon along the road to Sardis, near the borders of Mysia and Lydia. Strabo describes it as a Mysian city built on high ground east of the plain, while Xenophon's Anabasis indicates the city existed around 400 BC. Its remains lie today on a hilltop near Hamidiye village on the edge of the Kınık district of İzmir; although no excavation has yet taken place, scattered structural remains and pottery sherds can be seen on the surface.
