Magnesia on the Maeander was a sizeable ancient Greek city in Ionia, at a commercially and strategically important location in the triangle of Priene, Ephesus and Tralles. It was named after the Magnetes from Thessaly who settled the area and was called 'on the Meander' to distinguish it from the Lydian Magnesia ad Sipylum; its ruins lie near Ortaklar in the Germencik district of Aydın.
