Purushanda was an Anatolian kingdom of the early second millennium BCE. It was conquered by the Hittites around 1700 BC, and its name disappears from history soon thereafter.

The mound here in Aksaray is Acemhöyük, 700 by 600 metres. The dominant scholarly view identifies it with Puruşhanda, but that is not settled: Karahöyük and a location west of Konya have also been proposed. Puruşhanda itself we know from texts. In the Anitta text, when the Hittite ruler Anitta arrived, the king of Puruşhanda submitted without a fight and was given privileged vassal standing. The Sargon legend names the city too. Excavation at Acemhöyük has turned up pottery from Mesopotamia, northern Syria and central Anatolia, monumental buildings and a destruction layer, with seals showing contact between kingdoms.
