Editor's Note
Astyra was a town of the ancient Troad mentioned by Strabo. According to him it lay above Abydos and was once an independent city, but in his time it had become a ruined place belonging to the inhabitants of Abydos. There were once gold mines there, believed to be the source of the wealth of the Trojan king Priam, though they were nearly exhausted in Strabo's day.
