Editor's Note
Ainos (Latinised Aenus) was an ancient Greek city near present-day Enez in East Thrace, west of the Gulf of Saros and south of the mouth of the Maritsa River. Founded on the shore of a peninsula formed in the Middle Miocene, the city now lies about 3.5 km inland because of alluvium deposited by the river. Its two former harbors silted up to become the lakes today known as Dalyan and Taşaltı.
