Marble city of Aphrodite where a school of Roman sculptors carved Anatolia's finest portrait heads.
Editor's Note
Aphrodisias is the most famous of the ancient cities dedicated to the goddess Aphrodite, located in southwestern Anatolia in the old region of Caria, where the Geyre neighbourhood of the Karacasu district of Aydın now stands. After archaeological excavations began, the village of Geyre was relocated elsewhere.
