Story
Sidas Kale, near İcikler, is the site of Setae, a city of ancient Lydia. It lay between the upper reaches of the Hermus and its tributary the Hyllus, inside the region called Katakekaumene. None of the earlier writers mention it; the name surfaces only in Ptolemy and Hierocles. Yet the city struck its own coins and was visited by the emperor Hadrian. What is visible today is a stadium, tombs and the remains of several temples. A stele from the Apollo Aksyros temple here records that Melita and Makedon stole Eia's fishnet and other belongings, that the god punished them for it, and that their parents consulted Apollo Aksyros on their behalf and made a vow.
