One of Bornova's historic buildings, the mansion has carried many names in its time: Mattheys Mansion, Mates Mansion, the Steinbuchel House, the Wood-Paterson House, and today Arkas Sanat Bornova. The layered names are the most visible trace of a layered past, and the house still stands in İzmir's Bornova district as a reminder of the mansions of its era.
