The Beynam Forest lies about 50 kilometres south of Ankara, a relict woodland ringed by farmland, and takes its name from the nearby Beynam neighbourhood. Made up mainly of black pine, it was placed under protection in 1966. It covers 1601 hectares and rises between 1200 and 1521 metres above sea level.
