Story

The Konya Science Center serves as a living testament to the scientific and artistic achievements of the Seljuk period. The center showcases many fields, from the geometric studies of the mathematician Al-Khayyam to the observations on light made by Seljuk opticians. Ancient instruments, period texts, and interactive applications transport visitors to the world of science a thousand years ago. In the astronomy simulator in particular, the sky can be observed from the perspective of ancient astronomers. In the artistic design of these spaces, the traces of Turkish architecture and Islamic geometry are clearly visible. An important note: Seljuk civilization, as a center where Western and Eastern science met and formed a synthesis, constituted the backbone of the Islamic golden age. A visiting tip: after the interactive musical instruments exhibition, you can study the writings of Seljuk scientists in the center's library.
