TCG Ege is a Knox-class frigate that previously served in the U.S. Navy as USS Ainsworth (DE/FF-1090), named for Vice Admiral Walden L. Ainsworth. She was laid down by Avondale Shipyards at Westwego, Louisiana in 1971, launched in 1972, and commissioned in 1973.
