Sümbüllü Church in the Ihlara Valley is carved into the rock mass on two levels, monastery spaces included. Inside, the depictions show Mary between the archangels Michael and Gabriel, Christ, the three Hebrew youths in the furnace, and saints. The pairing of rock-cut architecture and painted walls makes it one of the valley's noted stops.
