Mount Tendürek is a shield volcano on the border of Ağrı and Van provinces in eastern Turkey, near the Iranian frontier. Its lava flows cover a broad swath of flat land, and its two main features are the Greater Tendürek summit crater and the smaller Lesser Tendürek crater to the east. Its very gentle slopes give it the shield form for which the type is named, and it is known to have erupted viscous lava like that of Hawaiian volcanoes.
