Story
İnönü Mağaraları is a multistory settlement carved into a rock face at İnönü on the banks of Kirmir Çayı in Ankara's Güdül district. The Güdül District Governor's Office notes that dating the structures to the Byzantine period is an estimate. The church at the center and the stairs between levels reveal a layout resembling a village community. Erosion of the slope by Kirmir Çayı has left some stairways exposed. Earlier claims about stalactites, stalagmites, and Stone Age habitation have been removed because they do not appear in the source. Care should be taken around exposed passages during a visit.
