Editor's Note
Achi Baba is a height dominating the Gallipoli Peninsula in Çanakkale Province. It was the main position of the Ottoman defenses during the 1915 Gallipoli campaign of the First World War. Capturing it was set as a priority for the Allied landing at Cape Helles on 25 April 1915, but despite four separate attempts between April and July the heights remained in Turkish hands throughout the campaign.
