The Bozburun Peninsula lies within the Marmaris district of Muğla province, extending south as a continuation of the Datça Peninsula. Known in antiquity as the Carian Chersonese, it is one of three peninsulas projecting from Anatolia into the Mediterranean and holds strategic importance.
