The Armutlu Peninsula extends into the eastern Sea of Marmara, between the Gulf of İzmit and the Gulf of Gemlik. About 32 km long and up to 21 km wide, its formation was shaped by the North Anatolian Fault. The whole of Yalova province lies on the peninsula, with parts of Kocaeli to the north, Bursa to the south, and Lake İznik to its south.
