Kara Ada (ancient Arkonnesos) is a small island in the Gulf of Bodrum in the Aegean Sea and a well-known stop on yacht tours. Greek-ruled until the Middle Ages, it was later taken by the Knights of Rhodes together with Bodrum, then passed to the Ottomans in the 16th century. Ceded to Italy in 1919, it was returned to Turkey under the 1932 Turkey-Italy Convention.
