Almus Dam is an earthen embankment dam near the town of Almus on the Yeşilırmak River, which flows into the Black Sea, built between 1964 and 1966 for irrigation, flood control and hydroelectricity. Standing 78 metres above the riverbed, it has a 27 megawatt power plant and irrigates about 21,350 hectares.
