Çatak Canyon lies in the Azdavay district of Kastamonu, about 7 kilometres from the town centre, and stretches roughly 8 kilometres. Its sheer walls rise in places to between 400 and 880 metres and shelter birds of prey such as eagles, hawks and falcons as well as wildlife including bears; a viewing terrace at 900 metres overlooks the canyon.
