The Gediz Delta is the river delta where the Gediz River reaches the Aegean Sea at the eastern end of the Gulf of İzmir, spanning the Çiğli, Menemen and Foça districts of İzmir Province. Covering some 14,900 hectares, it is one of Turkey's largest coastal wetlands and a haven for birds, protected as a Ramsar site since 1998 and an Important Bird Area since 2000.
