Editor's Note
The ancient remains of the city that served as the capital of Urartu from the 9th century BC until its fall. It lies in Van province on the eastern shore of Lake Van, west of the city of Van, and is regarded as one of the oldest continuously inhabited places in the world. In 2016 it was added to Turkey's Tentative List of World Heritage Sites.
