Kız Kalesi (Kız Kulesi) is a historic castle in the Pazar district of Rize, built on a rocky base atop a small peninsula west of the town centre and now cut off from the mainland. Its date of construction is disputed, with some sources pointing to the 8th century and others to the 13th-14th. The south side facing Pazar is the most damaged, supporting accounts that the castle suffered various attacks.
