Dur Yolcu

Editor's Note

The Dur Yolcu Monument sits on a hillside at Kilitbahir in the Eceabat district of Çanakkale. It was created in 1960 on the initiative of a group of soldiers, who inscribed on the hill the opening lines of Necmettin Halil Onan's poem "To a Traveller." Renovated in 2019 by the Historical Site Directorate, it is one of the symbols of Çanakkale and is photographed by thousands of tourists each year.
