Regarding the fountain, which has not survived to the present day, Semavi Eyice gives the following information: At the point where the avenue coming from the Kadıköy ferry pier meets the road, there is a small, inscriptionless fountain known as the Söğütlü (Willow) Fountain, which gives this district its name. A few quite old plane trees still standing beside this fountain, now wedged in among buildings, suggest that there was once also an open-air prayer area (namazgah) next to it. As many workshops and shops, suddenly built within the last two years, have completely covered this area, it has become impossible to verify this point.
