It was built in 1117/1118 CE during the Seljuk period. The Kavaklı Mosque is regarded as the earliest historical document of Turkish rule in the Tavşanlı district. On a stone in the upper right corner of the mosque's west wall, just beneath the eaves, the date 'year 511 (1117/1118)' can be read in broken celi thuluth script. The choice of this spot can be explained by the fact that it is both hard to reach and the least exposed to weather damage. The Kavaklı Mosque has been repaired from time to time.
