Erzen (Arzen) was an ancient and medieval city in the border zone between Upper Mesopotamia and the Armenian Highlands. Its name is of Pahlavi Persian origin and means 'valuable'. In Late Antiquity it served as the capital of the district of Arzanene, and some modern scholars identify it with the site of the ancient Armenian capital of Tigranocerta.
