Editor's Note
The Kızılırmak Delta (Bafra Plain) is a delta plain and wetland complex formed by alluvium where the Kızılırmak River flows into the Black Sea. Spanning the Ondokuzmayıs, Bafra and Alaçam districts of Samsun Province, its 56,000 hectares make it one of Turkey's largest deltas. Holding many coastal lagoons, it is the region's biggest wetland and the most important Ramsar site in Turkey.
