Editor's Note
The bridge spans the Koca Naz River, one of the tributaries of the Bartın River. It was built in 1787 by Çalıkoğlu İbrahim Bey during the reign of Sultan Abdülhamid I, while Bartın was under a voivodeship administration. It is 42 m long and 8.5 m wide. Vehicles cross via the 5.84-metre-wide roadway in the middle of the bridge, while there are 1.28-metre-wide footpaths on either side. Its architect is thought to have been a Greek master builder. After the bridge's piers were raised above the water surface, they were left in place for five years to allow them to settle.
