On the Edirne-Kapıkule road, 2 km from Kapıkule, the monument popularly known as the "Stone of Vengeance" (İntikam Taşı) belongs to cavalry captain Reşit Bey, who fell in the Balkan Wars. On 23 July 1913, during the recapture of Edirne from the Bulgarians, cavalry captain Reşit Bey, at the head of the advance units, was ambushed and killed near Kapıkule. The monument was erected in 1914 by his father, Field Marshal M. Fuat Pasha.
