Editor's Note
It is located within the boundaries of Dombay village in the Lalapaşa district of Edirne province. Standing in a commanding position atop a hill, the fortress is thought to date to the Byzantine period. Surviving today only as a ruin, the fortress is said to resemble the Byzantine-era fortifications used as watch posts that were built at intervals throughout the region. It was registered as a First-Degree Archaeological Site by decision no. 1122 of the Edirne Regional Board for the Conservation of Cultural Assets, dated 25 July 2013.
