It is a small redoubt consisting of gun emplacements, infantry trenches, a ditch, and four rooms surrounding a circular courtyard about 10 m in radius. It was built between 1886 and 1888 by İsmail Hakkı Bey and the Fortification Commission. It is one of the 24 redoubts that formed Edirne's line of defense and encircled the city.
