The Edirne Muradiye Mevlevi Lodge once stood on a high hill in the Muradiye district, within the grounds of the Muradiye Mosque. It is thought to have been built by Murad II as the Edirne Mevlevi lodge. Holding a special place among the dervish lodges of Edirne, the Muradiye Mevlevi Lodge was the most important Mevlevi lodge built after those of Konya and Istanbul. It comprised a mosque, a sheikh's residence, a semahane (ceremonial hall), a harem quarter, dervish cells, dede rooms, a soup kitchen, a tomb, a library, an ablution fountain, a street fountain, a school, and a cemetery.
