Editor's Note
It stands within the boundaries of the Babademirtaş neighborhood in the central district of Edirne province. Also known as the Edirne Gureba Hospital, the building was constructed in 1866 during the Ottoman period under the name Municipal Hospital, between Kırlangıç Bayırı and Taftin Ağa Street. Part of it burned in a fire that broke out in 1882 and was subsequently repaired. In 1908, after Sultan Mehmed Reşad V witnessed an incident during his visit to Edirne, he ordered a pavilion to be built in the hospital garden for sick women and children, and a Reşadiye Pavilion was erected according to a plan drawn by Dr. Rifat Osman Bey.
