The iftariye kiosk within Edirne Palace, standing right at the edge of the Tunca River and projecting out over it, was built during the reign of Sultan Mehmed IV in 1663. The Edirne Iftariye Kiosk has two projecting bays. One of these bays, in the entrance porch, greets arrivals with a welcoming stance. The other projects out over the Tunca as an overhanging terrace, on the façade where it draws in the fresh air coming off the river. Sedat Hakkı Eldem notes that this building, which appears as an example of Ottoman Classical-period architecture from 1663, had a central section surrounded by divans and a pool at the time it was built.
