Editor's Note
The Akağalar Gate, also known as the Babü's Saade, dates to the reign of Mehmed II, and just as at Topkapı Palace, the imperial standard was planted here. The Akağalar Gate is one of the few structures of Edirne Palace still standing today. It was restored in 2004 with the support of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. "It is thought that the Babü's Saade, built of finely cut küfeki stone, has largely lost its original form and took its present appearance during a repair in the 17th century."
