Editor's Note
The plot on which this now-vanished building stood is designated as a "mosque lot." Research indicates that the building was constructed in AH 847 (AD 1445), during the reign of Murad II, under the patronage of Emir Çavuş Bey, and that a foundation deed for it exists. According to the History of Edirne (1939) by O. N. Peremeci, the inscription of this single-domed, single-minaret mosque read: "The construction of this blessed masjid was ordered in the days of Sultan Murad Han, son of Mehmed Han—may his realm endure—the Emir Çavuş, in the month of Shawwal, year 847."
