Editor's Note
It was built in 1827 by Mahmud II together with the Mahmudiye Barracks. As a result of an investigative excavation carried out by 50 inmates of the Edirne Open Penal Institution, which uses the barracks today, through its Architectural Restoration work branch, the base of the minaret and traces of the foundations were brought to light.
