Editor's Note
Located to the west of the city on the Kapikule road at the head of the Gazi Mihal Bridge, the mosque was commissioned in 832 AH (1429 CE) by Sah Melek Pasha, who served as beylerbey of Rumelia during the reigns of Mehmed I and Murad II. The rectangular-plan mosque stands within a courtyard whose floor level is 2 to 2.5 meters below the road passing to its east. Built of regular cut stone and brick, the structure was repaired by the General Directorate of Foundations in 1963, 1965, and 1966. An examination of the building's facades shows that it acquired its present appearance as a result of these repairs.
